The linglingo is a symbol of fertility and virility. It is an ancient symbol that is found not just in the Philippines, but in other parts of Southeast Asia by other names. The term linglingo is actually a Southern Ifugao term and is the common umbrella term used in the Cordillera and the Philippines today.

The symbol represents both feminity and masculinity, with the circle and slit representing both the womb and birth canal, and the two inner protrusions representing the testes.

It's also considered an amulet, believed to host certain spirits who live in it. By giving offerings such as chicken or pig to the spirits, it's believed to give power and strength to the amulet.

This brass linglingo has a beetle design, known as pango.
